Retailers have been given the OK to buy the spring and fall Bratz lines from MGA Entertainment after U.S. Judge Stephen Larson withheld a decision regarding Mattel's filing to put the fashion doll line into receivership on Jan. 7.

MGA will continue to sell Bratz dolls through 2009, pending a final decision regarding the on-going copyright infringement case. Larson has also ordered the company to hand over financial records to a court-appointed forensic auditor.

MGA Entertainment made an emergency filing to San Francisco's Court of Appeals in early December, asking to stay a court order banning the Van Nuys toy company from manufacturing and selling the popular tween Bratz doll line. This past summer, a ruling found MGA, its chief executive officer Isaac Larian and its Hong Kong subsidiary liable for copyright infringement of the Bratz doll line.
