Sega Gains Video Game Rights to 2010 Winter Olympics

Gaming developer Sega has once again gained video game rights to the Olympics. International Sports Multimedia, the exclusive licensee of the International Olympic Committee, chose Sega as the sole game publisher for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada.

Sega will have the exclusive rights to create console, PC/Macintosh, handheld, arcade and mobile games based on the Olympics' many sports events (skiing, skating and snowboarding) and include the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games moniker.

"The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games offers gamers a collection of exciting sports to master, as well as a stunning location for players to take advantage of," says Okitane Usui, chief operating officer, Sega. "We aim to bring fans around the world an exhilarating experience whenever they play any Olympic title."

Sega previously held game publishing rights to the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
