This fast growing skateboarding brand will receive its first major outing on British soil at Brand Licensing Europe this week. Skatelab, already known in North America where skateboarding is the sport of choice for nearly 12 million kids, has established itself as a brand that epitomizes cool, with strong performance in apparel and accessories. In the U.K., it will also be positioned as a lifestyle sports brand among the core skateboarding age group of 6- to 14-year-old boys. Rocket will be looking for licensees in all categories, initially in clothing and accessories to start the program. "This is growing into a dominant mass market brand in the U.S., with a style and look that millions of kids know and love," says Rob Wijeratna, Rocket Licensing's joint managing director. "With skateboarding continuing its rapid rise in the U.K. market, the time has never been better for a brand like this that reflects the street lifestyle, is an established hit with the target market and has a unique graphic approach that kids who want to be cool will be drawn to." |
