The 15-episode competition reprises the popular series last seen on UK screens in 2000. Start Licensing director Ian Downes says, “’Gladiators’ has a great history. It was not set up as a merchandise property, but it turned out to be very merchandise friendly.” The licensing program will focus of toys, apparel, bedding and confectionery, kicking off with publishing projects for Christmas 2008. Start already works with Sky on “Brainiac” and “Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old?” Start Licensing is also working on a project with the UK’s National Gallery on implementing a wide-ranging licensing program. The agent also secured deals with licensee Paladone Products to produce ranges of Brainiac and Beano novelty gifts and gadgets, which will be sold through Littlewoods, Grattans, Freemans, and Debenhams. |
