Sales of preschool brand Peppa Pig DVDs in the U.K. have passed the 2 million mark, according to E1 Entertainment (formerly Contender Entertainment), which releases Peppa on DVD and licenses the property globally.There are 10 Peppa DVDs on release, with eight in the Top 100 Children's Chart, according to E1. More releases are planned. The series airs on Five's Milkshake block and Nick Jr in the U.K.
"We are, of course, thrilled that Peppa remains a firm favorite with the preschool audience," says Holly Gough, E1 Entertainment's senior product manager for home entertainment. "What is even more pleasing is that her popularity is, if anything, growing, as shown by the astounding sales of Peppa DVDs and continuing growth and expansion of the Peppa licensing program to include new licensees and new themes like Princess Peppa and George Pig."
