The event, now in its 20th edition, will present 63 animation projects with a combined budget of €155 million ($217 million). France, Spain, the U.K. and the Nordic countries will present the most projects and the development of media for multiple platforms—Internet, mobile phones and video games in addition to television screens—is again a theme. French producers will present 17 projects, Spain will have 12 projects at the event and the U.K. will have seven. The Nordic countries continue to boost their presence on the European animation stage with five projects from Norway, three from Denmark, two from Finland and one from Sweden. Cartoon Forum will also host the Cartoon d'Or 2009 Awards for best European-animated short film, a prize that helps promote new talent. The Cartoon Tributes for television, which elects the best producer, broadcaster and investor/distributor of the year, will also take place during the event. Cartoon Forum is being held in the cities of Stavanger and Sandnes in Norway's Rogaland, from Sept. 22 to 25. Cartoon Forum 2009 is supported by the EU MEDIA Programme, the cities of Stavanger and Sandnes, the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs, the Norwegian Film Institute, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Innovation Norway and NRK. |
