Not surprisingly, gaming products are anchoring the program for the video game movie. The lineup includes a console game for Nintendo systems that continues the storyline of the film, as well as arcade-style versions of some of the games featured in the film–“Hero’s Duty,” “Sugar Rush Speedway” and “Fix-It Felix Jr.”–on the Wreck-It Ralph website, with a mobile game coming soon.
The dedicated Wreck-It Ralph website also features character profiles and a range of downloadable assets including screensavers and avatars for social media and mobile devices.
The product lineup from Disney Consumer Products reaches into all major categories with plush, dolls, t-shirts, roll play items, books, lapel pins, stationary and gifting products, tote bags, device covers, sweatshirts and figures.
Star products include Pop! Vinyl figures from Funko, the One Sweet Race picture book inspired by the video game world of “Sugar Rush” and a set of Ralph Smash foam hands that emit smashing sounds and Ralph phrases when kids throw a punch.
Walt Disney Records also released the soundtrack for the film Tuesday.
Wreck-It Ralph, which begins opening worldwide today, tells the story of the villain in a classic side-scrolling arcade game who has been overshadowed by the game’s star, Fix-It Felix, for years and decides to that he can be a hero too.
