Footwear designer Stuart Weitzman has been chosen to create the glass slipper that will be used in the upcoming Broadway production “Cinderella” and plans to release a capsule collection based on his design.
Weitzman’s design, which features a transparent vinyl silhouette and more than 5,000 Swarovski crystals, will be worn by Laura Osnes, the star of “Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella,” when the musical debuts March 3.
The shoe and the show will serve as the inspiration for Weitzman’s Clearly Timeless capsule collection, which will include a glass slipper-inspired pump, a peep-toe slingback and a strappy sandal, all bedecked with Swarovski crystals. The Clearly Timeless line will be available in in Stuart Weitzman boutiques in New York City and online.
"What is every girl's first memory of shoes? Cinderella's glass slipper,” says Weitzman. “Something as simple and accessible as a beautiful shoe can make a woman feel like a princess. Who wouldn't want to be Cinderella for a night? When asked to re-create the iconic slipper for the new Broadway production, I jumped at the chance."
The Stuart Weitzman brand is a division of The Jones Group.
