Warner Bros. Consumer Products is entering toy fair season with a massive roster of global licensees for its top brands including DC Comics Super Heroes, The Hobbit, Looney Toons, The Big Bang Theory and the upcoming Superman film, Man of Steel.

The program for Man of Steel, which hits theatres June 14, tops to list of WBCP’s new offerings, with DC Comics global master toy partner Mattel leading the charge. Mattel has unveiled a wide range of toys for the classic brand’s newest incarnation, which includes action figures, vehicles, play sets, collectible figures and a Movie Masters figures line, noted for its superior detail and accuracy. Mattel will also introduce Man of Steel QuickShots, a toy that incorporates elements of Superman’s flight and strength.
Other global licensees supporting the upcoming film include LEGO with construction sets inspired by scenes from the film; Rubie’s Costume with costumes for both kids and adults; Thinkway Toys, with a role play line, remote-control vehicle and interactive figure; Jakks Pacific with a range of collectible figures and novelty toys; and Cardinal Industries with games and puzzles.
A separate program for collectors includes statues from Sideshow Collectibles; authentic prop replicas from Noble Collection; an 18-inch articulated figure from NECA; stylized plush and vinyl figures from Funko; and high-end creations from Kotobukiya and SquareEnix.

DC Comics Franchises
WBCP and Mattel have also collaborated to take the Batman and DC Super Friends franchises to new heights.
This year, Mattel will release all-new products in the evergreen Batman toy line including figures and vehicles. Additional global toy partners for DC Comics perennials like Batman and Superman include LEGO with new construction sets for the entire DC Universe Super Heroes line; Rubie’s with costumes and accessories for the DC Comics portfolio; Jakks Pacific; Jumbo Games for puzzles; Molli Toys; Thinkway Toys; NECA; and Winning Moves with Top Trumps collector cards.
WBCP has also teamed up with Fisher-Price to introduce the next generation of preschoolers to DC Super Heroes with the DC Super Friends property. Fisher-Price is planning a raft of new product for the line in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico, the U.K., Spain and other parts of Europe.
WBCP will also be rolling out new offerings inspired by Warner Bros. Animation’s upcoming detective thriller series “Beware the Batman,” an all-new take on the Batman franchise. Product lines will be anchored by Mattel’s series-specific action figures line.

WBCP also continues to draw from the content published by its Interactive Entertainment division and classic TV series to expand the DC Comic universe. This year the licensor will introduce new programs based on top-selling video games like “Batman: Arkham City” and the upcoming “Injustice Gods Among Us” with licensees such as Rubie’s, Cryptozoic Entertainment, Triforce, Mattel, Kotobukiya and Square Enix on board.
The new licensing program for the classic “Batman” live-action TV series also continues to grow with vintage-style figures, as well as figure assortments and vehicles from Mattel, costumes from Rubie’s, stylized figures and plush from Funko, vinyl figures from Mezco, action figures from NECA, model kits from Round 2, trading cards from Cryptozoic. Mattel is also planning a co-branded Hot Wheels line.
As fans await the second and third films in The Hobbit trilogy, WBCP’s toy partners are keeping the franchise fresh.
Co-master toy partners The Bridge Direct and Vivid Group have unveiled a new collection of characters based on the trilogy and Weta Workshop continues to roll out authentic film prop replicas and collectibles. Other partners include United Cutlery (collector weaponry replicas), Noble Collection (collectibles), global licensee LEGO (construction sets), Pressman Toy (table games), Games Workshop (tabletop strategy games), Spin Master (The Hobbit Stratego game), USAopoly (The Lord of the Rings co-branded games and puzzles in the U.S.), Winning Moves (The Hobbit Monopoly in the U.K.); Cryptozoic (board game), Kosmos (board games) and Ravensburger (puzzles and card games), among many others.
“The Looney Tunes Show,” produced by WBA, has kicked off its second season on Cartoon Network and WBCP continues to support the classic brand with WBA-produced theatrical shorts distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as numerous global licensees.
U.S. master toy licensee The Bridge Direct is featuring a multi-category product line of plush, figures, play sets and vehicles; in the U.K., Character Group was recently announced as the master toy partner for Looney Tunes and is planning a new collection of interactive, motion-sensor plush as well as construction play sets, figures and traditional plush.
Other licensees include Allegre HKM (plush), Rubie’s Costume, Pressman Toy (puzzles), Lansay (plush), Bestway (inflatables), Trefl and Hasbro (puzzles), EMTEC (USB flash drives and an MP3 player).
Scooby-Doo and the Gang continue to entertain worldwide with a robust range of toys from global master toy licensee Character Group that includes collectible figures, vehicles, play sets and construction sets, available exclusively at Toys ‘R’ Us in the U.S. and the EMEA region.
Additional licensees supporting Scooby-Doo property and Cartoon Network series “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” include the Mattel Hot Wheels brand, Rubie’s, Pressman Toy (games and puzzles), Trefl (puzzles), NKOK (remote-control vehicles in the U.S.), Lansay (remote-control car in France).
WBCP has also recently announced a new animated television series in partnership with WBA, “The Tom and Jerry Show.”
In support of the new series, Jazwares will continue as Hanna-Barbera master toy partner in North America and plans to include show branding in future product rollouts. Giochi Preziosi will continue to represent the brand in Western Europe and Turkey as master toy partner for the Tom and Jerry property and the new television series with a toy range including figure assortments, play sets and action games. Tom and Jerry will also get support from such licensees as Rubie’s, Trefl and Allegre HKM.
Rounding out the WBCP 2013 toy program are niche offerings for many of its hit TV series, including Crytozoic trading cards based on “The Big Bang Theory,” “Fringe” and “The Vampire Diaries.” Cryptozoic will also showcase the Mystic Warlords of Ka’a trading cards, the card game played by Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj in “The Big Bang Theory.”
“The Big Bang Theory” continues to garner a wealth of licensing support, including partners Quantum Mechanix with show-inspired maquettes; Wonderland Toys with character dolls; Commonwealth with gifts and novelty; Funko with stylized figures and bobbleheads; and a co-branded Clue game with USAopoly.
Other WBTV partnerships include “The Vampire Diaries” collectible dolls with Tonner; a line for “The Voice” from Sakar Electronics; and Funko bobbleheads for the short-form comedy series “Childrens Hospital.”
