The deal gives Univision exclusive rights to license the team’s merchandise in the U.S. beginning in January, further expanding Univision Enterprises’ licensing offerings in the sports category. Univision Deportes already holds the U.S. media rights to the home games of Club América.
“Building on the successes of our current branded products, this new offering extends Univision’s already deep relationship with Hispanic consumers,” says Francisco Arenas, vice president, consumer products, Univision Communications. “This representation deal will directly serve our consumers through the appreciation of one of the world’s favorite soccer teams and will give fans the opportunity to find their favorite Club América products at retail.”
Club América is one of the most successful teams in Liga MX, the premiere soccer league in Mexico, having won 14 championships.
