TV DEAL: Paramount Heads to Eastern Europe

Viacom International Media Networks has launched two new localized versions of its 24-hour TV film network Paramount Channel in Russia and Hungary.

Viewers in both countries now have access to a selection of films from the library of Paramount Pictures, with dubbed content, local promos and channel idents.

The deal makes pay-TV households in Russia and Hungary among the first audiences for Paramount Channal, which previously launched in Spain (2012) and France (2013).

In Russia, VIMN has partnered with Rostelecom, and the channel there will also offer contemporary classics from other American film studios as well as European movies.

In Hungary, the agreement is with affiliate partners Tarr Kft., PR Telekom, Invitel and Magyar Telekom.
