Turner Broadcasting has appointed former BBC Worldwide EVP Ian McDonough as senior vice president and managing director, Northern Europe.
In his new role, McDonough will lead the broadcaster’s business across the U.K., Nordics and Baltic region. He will be responsible for leading the growth and development of Turner’s operations across its kids’ and general entertainment portfolio, also overseeing CNNI distribution and commercial operations. He will also identify areas for driving revenues and profits, oversee P&L and ensure consistency and strategy for the region.
McDonough joins Turner from BBC Worldwide, where he was executive vice president for the CEMA region including television channels, content sales, consumer products, production, digital and home video.
“I recognized in Ian a determination, energy and ambition that is an excellent match for Turner, as we are well positioned for growth,” says Giorgio Stock, president, Turner Broadcasting EMEA. “This, combined with his considerable track record and passion for developing new business, will be a tremendous asset. We have recently enjoyed some great ratings wins within the U.K., and Ian is extremely well placed to lead in a region that is experimenting with vast innovation and fast-adapting user experiences, especially in the digital space.”
