Turkish Cartoon Branches Out

Mart Agency, the licensing and publishing agency for 22-year-old Turkish cartoon characters Limon and Oli, is bringing the brand to a whole new roster of categories including apparel, toys and television.

More than 6,500 Limon and Oli daily comic strips have been published in the Sabah newspaper since 1991, and the brand already boasts more than 100 books and an app.

New to the brand’s publishing range is a magazine from Doğan Egmont and the brand’s 27th collection book Kardan Adamın Sırrı (Snowman's Secret) featuring more than 240 comic strips. A sticker book, cooking book and new collection book will debut later in the year.

Mart Agency also premiered a 3D, animated series for the brand in 2013, which airs on TRT Children in Turkey. The first season of the series includes 26 5-minute episodes aimed at kids ages 5 to 8 and is now being sold to international broadcasters. A second season is already in development.

Other licensing partners for the brand include:

  • Neco Toys for plush;

  • Turkish textile manufacturer Zorlu Textile for a bedding collection available exclusively in its Taç stores and website. The line includes bed linens, blankets and coverlets for toddlers and kids;

  • Keskin Color for stationery including notebooks and activity books; and

  • LCWaikiki for children's clothing including pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, leggings and shorts. The line is now available at LCWaikiki’s nearly 400 stores in Turkey.
