The show, a co-production between The Jim Henson Company and DHX Media, is a spin-off the ’80s live-action puppet series “Fraggle Rock.”
“Doozers” debuted last week at MIPJunior in Cannes, France, and will begin broadcasting in the EMEA on Turner Broadcasting’s preschool channel Cartoonito in fall 2013 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the original “Fraggle Rock” show.
TCNE plans to support the EMEA broadcast of “Doozers” with a cross-category licensing program featuring merchandising, publishing and promotions.
“The Jim Henson Company set the bar for children’s television in the 1980s with ‘Fraggle Rock,’” says Alan Fenwick, vice president, TCNE. “‘Doozers’ has the potential to be a future classic and will benefit hugely from the on-channel and retail support that we will commit, in addition to the parental endorsement of adults who enjoyed ‘Fraggle Rock’ when they were children and now have kids of their own to entertain.”
Doozers are three-inch tall, green characters that live in communities just beyond the view of humans all around the world. The new animated series is set in Doozer Creek, a high-tech enchanted forest that merges nature with innovation.
