This year’s Seoul Character & Licensing Fair was the largest in the show’s 10-year history.
The event hosted more than 200 exhibitors and 1,000 booths when it took place, July 17-21 in Seoul, South Korea.
In attendance were industry notables including Charles Riotto, president of the Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association; Elia Hofman, chief executive officer, Exim Latin America; Celso Raphael, head of Exim Brazil; Patricia De Wilde, president of the French licensing association and head of licensing at Marathon in France; Nathalie Dumoulin, director, international youth development, Pixcom Canada; Taekmin Kwon, vice president, Korea Creative Content Agency; Grahame Grassby, chief executive officer, Stella Projects in Australia; and License! Global group publisher, Steven Ekstract.
This year’s show featured a distinct focus on the business side of the industry with a business matching program, networking reception and improved buyers’ lounge.
The number of overseas buyers tripled from previous years, with more than 200 buyers from 28 different countries attending the event.
SCLF estimates that more than 2,000 meetings were conducted and expects the number of contracts signed as a result to also increase from 2012.
