Rocket Licensing is continuing to see solid growth for the Breaking Bad brand in the U.K., despite the fact that the series finished its TV run in fall 2013.
The agency has signed 12 licensees for the Sony Pictures property to-date with more deals in the final stages, and expects an additional boost when the spin-off series “Better Call Saul” premieres in the U.S. later this year.
Breaking Bad product at retail already includes Pyramid posters, as well as t-shirts and sweatshirts from both Trademark Products and Plastic Head. These retail lines will be joined by a new range of nightwear, underwear and loungewear from Poeticgem this summer, a Smiffy’s dress up costume in late summer, a robe and onesie from Groovy, an app from Voice Express and phone and tablet cases from VMC Accessories, along with Pyramid’s new leather embossed notebooks in Q4. A Breaking Bad Top Trumps card game is also on the way as part of a worldwide deal with Winning Moves. New product in publishing and gifting will also follow soon.
“It’s amazing to work with a brand that is based on a unique and extraordinary premise and is nevertheless instantly identifiable, very popular and still growing,” says Charlie Donaldson, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. “Breaking Bad is looking good for licensing and retail success for a long time to come.”
