'Powerpuff Girls' Secures New U.K. Partners

Hachette, Zak and Kinnerton have signed on to expand the children’s series’ presence in the U.K.

Cartoon Network EMEA has teamed up with a slate of U.K. licensees to accelerate the licensing program for its rebooted animated series “The Powerpuff Girls.”

First, Hachette has signed on as the master publishing partner in the U.K. and will introduce a line of paperback fiction, guidebooks and sticker activity formats this month.

Zak will also launch a range of lunchware products for the back-to-school season.

Finally, Kinnerton is on board to develop confectionery products that will hit shelves next Easter.

“It’s thrilling to see the U.K. licensing industry displaying such confidence in the revival of ‘The Powerpuff Girls,’ as the signing of these new best-in-class licensees demonstrates,” says Graham Saltmarsh, director, licensing, U.K. and Nordics, Cartoon Network EMEA. “What’s more, we’re delighted be working with partners who share our enthusiasm for injecting the girls’ market with genuine newness and bringing brands that both empower and entertain to girls across the country.”

The latest signings will also join a range of licensees that are already on board for the series’ U.K. licensing program including Bioworld Europe, Blueprint Collections, Blues clothing, C&M Licensing, Forbidden Planet, Poplar Linens, Posh Paws and William Lamb, among many others.

Cartoon Network is also planning to launch a host of new products in the publishing, fashion, accessories, gifting, homewares, personal care, FMCG and back-to-school categories this fall.
