Penguin Licensing and Consumer Products is planning a three-year consumer products program to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its Ladybird Books imprint in 2015.
The first Vintage Ladybird-branded products will launch this fall/winter and will include dated and un-dated stationery products and calendars from Portico, as well as retro wooden postcards from The Wooden Postcard Company.
The Penguin licensing team is looking for additional licensees in games and puzzles, gifting, arts and crafts, retro food and beverages and homewares.
The celebrations in 2015 will mark the centenary of the registration of the Ladybird logo in 1915 and will also include the publication of two new books: Ladybird A Cover Story and Ladybird by Design, as well as a partnership with the University of the Arts London that will culminate in an exhibition of Ladybird designs.
“Ladybird is a part of the fabric of British life and is recognized and loved the world over,” says Susan Bolsover, head of licensing and consumer products, Penguin U.K. “The centenary gives us an opportunity to engage with consumers of all ages and celebrate this iconic brand. We’re continuing to lay the groundwork ahead of a really exciting year and are working with a whole host of licensees, retailers and promotional partners on a range of products inspired by this anniversary.”
