UK-based producer-distributor Parthenon Entertainment has acquired the international rights to both series of “Roman Mysteries,” the BBC epic live-action children’s series, based on best-selling books by Caroline Lawrence. The series will be launched to the international marketplace at Mipcom in October. Rights are available worldwide (excluding the UK and Australia) across all media.
A co-production between the BBC and UK production company The Little Entertainment Group (LEG), the drama follows four friends—Flavia, Nubia, Jonathan, and Lupus—as they struggle to live through one of history’s most turbulent times. With comparisons to the lives of youngsters today, each episode deals with issues of prejudice, violence, and the environment, wrapped up in stories of mystery and suspense.
