“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Ninja Slide” will be the first game in a four-game contract between the two companies to develop Nick titles exclusively for the Sifteo Cubes system.
Cubes are motion-aware blocks with touch-sensitive screens that communicate wirelessly with each other during gameplay.
"We're very excited to work with Sifteo to produce this brand-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game where players can navigate their favorite Turtle on interactive missions," says Manuel Torres, senior vice president, global toys and consumer electronics, Nickelodeon. "Through Sifteo's innovative platform, we're able to create a state-of-the-art gaming experience for fans looking to reconnect with this celebrated franchise."
“Ninja Slide” is part of Nickelodeon's push to update the franchise since it acquired the brand in 2009. A new CGI-animated TV series is in development, and a live-action Turtles movie, being produced in partnership with Paramount Pictures, is set for 2013.
"We think it's really fitting to be part of the team reinventing a classic franchise like the Turtles," says Jeevan Kalanithi, chief executive officer and co-founder, Sifteo. "We are creating the conditions where the classic characters and play patterns from our childhoods can meet the technology of today."
“Ninja Slide” will be available in November along with the new version of the Cubes gaming system, which includes more cubes and a new base station.
The next-generation Cubes gaming system is now available for pre-order on the Sifteo, Amazon and Toys ‘R’ Us websites.
