The bagged coffee will be produced in partnership with McDonald’s Canadian coffee supplier Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee.
No plans to expand the product to the U.S. and beyond have been announced although the company did file to use its McCafe brand on ground and whole bean coffee with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in early October.
The McCafe-branded coffee is being launched as McDonald's steps up its expansion in Canada with the company’s Canadian president John Betts saying that the QSR plans to open around 30 new stores by the end of the year.
McDonald's launched its McCafe line of beverages in 2009. Betts also said that the company is open to the possibility of expanding into single-cup coffee brewing at some point in the future.
