|2013 Winners, Mr. Trafalgar|
The last day to enter Brand Licensing Europe’s License This! competition for new creative concepts is this Friday, Sept. 5.
Launched in 2010, the challenge offers brand-new properties the opportunity to break into the global licensing industry. It is open to any new brand that has no merchandising deals already in place or pending.
A shortlist of four entries will be selected by the judges, and the finalists will pitch their brand in front of an audience at BLE Oct. 9. The winner will receive a fully furnished stand at Brand Licensing Europe 2015, so that the property can be brought back to market next year.
Property creators/owners can submit their property to be part of License This! by completing the entry form at BrandLicensing.eu.
The judging panel for this year’s competition is led by Ian Downes, director, Start Licensing. He is joined by Paul Bufton, vice president, consumer products licensing and retail EMEA, Rovio Entertainment; Richard Haines, acquisitions and new business manager, Penguin Children's, Penguin Random House; and John Carolan, head of buying Childrenswear, Sainsbury’s Supermarkets.
“Entries for this year’s License This! are coming in from all over the world, including Australia, America, Greece, Ukraine, Germany and France,” says Darren Brechin, event director, BLE. “It’s an absolutely great way to get your property in front of a panel of licensing experts. Shortlisted properties always benefit from presenting to the judges, and the advice and insight they receive. All our lucky past winners are still exhibiting at BLE and are continuing to build their businesses.”
