Kidman, Firth to Star in Paddington Film

Producer David Heyman and Studiocanal unveiled a star‐studded cast for the upcoming movie Paddington, which will be the first-ever live-action film inspired by Michael Bond’s beloved children’s book character.

The cast will include Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey,” Notting hill) as Mr. Brown;

Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, Bridget Jones’s Diary) as the voice of Paddington Bear; Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Moulin Rouge) as the film’s villain, an evil taxidermist; Sally Hawkins (Happy Go Lucky, Made in Dagenham) as Mrs. Brown; Julie Walters (Billy Elliot, Harry Potter) as Mrs. Bird the housekeeper; and Jim Broadbent (Harry Potter, The Iron Lady) as Mr. Gruber, the owner of the antiques shop.

Paddington will open in the U.K. Nov. 28, 2014, and will be released in North America in the first quarter of 2015.
