The Joester Loria Group, North Americas licensing agent for the kids’ series “The Hive,” has tapped Penguin Young Readers Group as the brand’s new U.S. publishing partner on behalf of Space Enterprises, the brand’s global licensing agent.
Penguin is now planning a full publishing program that will span readers, 8x8 storybooks and sticker books, as well as e-books with enhanced read-to-me functions.
“‘The Hive,’ one of Disney Junior’s breakout series worldwide, offers an exceptional combination of endearing characters, great stories and beautiful 3D animation,” says Debra Joester, president, JLG. “We are confidant Penguin will translate the series to books beautifully and are delighted to partner with them.”
The line is expected to hit retail in spring 2015.
“We are thrilled to extend the colorful and engaging world of ‘The Hive’ through books,” says Francesco Sedita, president and publisher, Grosset & Dunlap and PSS!, Penguin Young Readers Group. “We fell in love with the show from the first episode and we’re excited to help tell the stories of Buzzbee and his friends through a variety of reading formats.”
The U.K. series is produced by Monumental Productions, Lupus Films and DQ Entertainment and buzzed into U.S. households on Disney Junior in October 2012.
