HIT’s ‘Thomas’ Chugs into Brazil

HIT Entertainment’s “Thomas & Friends” has been picked up by the free-to-air broadcaster TV Cultura in Brazil.

The series began airing Monday as part of TV Cultura’s Quintal da Cultura (Culture in the Backyard) kids’ programming block.

TV Cultura is the latest Latin American free-TV broadcaster to offer “Thomas & Friends,” which was also recently added to Televisa in Mexico.

“TV Cultura’s commitment to family-friendly, high-quality and educational programming makes the network the best home for ‘Thomas & Friends’ in Brazil,” says Sid Mathur, vice president, The Americas, HIT Entertainment. “Overall, the Thomas & Friends franchise has growing momentum in the region, and we are thrilled to partner with them to bring our blue engine into the homes of millions of young Thomas fans across the country.”

To further engage viewers and promote the series, a Thomas & Friends microsite has been created for the TV Cultura website, featuring games, activities and parent solutions. HIT Entertainment and TV Cultura will promote the series with on-air Thomas & Friends short-story capsules and sing-along music videos.
