Hasbro has extended its partnership with DeNA for a series of new mobile games based on the G.I. Joe and Dungeons & Dragons franchises.
The two companies first collaborated on the game app “Transformers: Legends,” which was released in April.
For G.I. Joe, the partners are planning a free-to-play mobile game called “G.I. Joe: Battleground,” in which players will lead and assemble teams of G.I. Joe heroes and COBRA villains in battle.
For Dungeons & Dragons, created by Hasbro subsidiary Wizards of the Coast, the game “Arena of War” will put players in the Forgotten Realms for a battle role-playing game that combines questing, character leveling and small team collaboration with in-game events and massively multi-player competitions.
Both games will be available on DeNA’s Mobage platform, Android and iOS devices later this year.
“Dungeons & Dragons and G.I. JOE are legendary IPs that have permeated popular culture,” says Clive Downie, chief executive officer, DeNA West. “Both properties offer our development teams unique opportunities to create fun, interactive entertainment experiences that we believe will appeal to the franchises’ dedicated fan bases as well as casual mobile game players.”
