eOne Details ‘Peppa Pig’ Theatrical Plans

Nine new episodes of the preschool series will debut in theaters across the U.K. and Australia in 2017.

Entertainment One has revealed plans for the first theatrical release of “Peppa Pig” content in the U.K. and Australia.

For the big screen adventure, eOne has created an hour-long cinema format, titled Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience, which will include nine all-new episodes of “Peppa Pig.” Each episode will be connected through interactive entertainment and will feature live action Peppa and George characters.

The U.K. experience will lead with “Peppa Visits London,” where the Queen will make her long-awaited return to “Peppa Pig” as she takes Peppa and her friends on a sight-seeing tour around London. The following episodes will highlight a trip to the zoo, a cruise along a canal and advice from the police.

Meanwhile, in Australia, the theatrical release, which will be titled Peppa Pig My First Cinema Experience: Peppa’s Australian Holiday, will mark the property’s first big screen debut in the country. The release will also be led by a four-part Australian special, which will see Peppa and her family head to Oz on holiday to visit Kylie Kangaroo.

To promote the film’s release, eOne has partnered with the Australian Tourist Board and character costumes have taken part in promotional photoshoots at Australian landmarks Hickson Bay Wharf Reserve and Targona Zoo.

Additionally, a collection of London- and Australia-themed “Peppa Pig” merchandise will be released at retail in spring 2017 across categories including toys, accessories and publishing.

“We’ve had huge demand from fans in the U.K. and Australia for a ‘Peppa Pig’ cinema event and we’re all incredibly excited to be bringing fans what we hope will be an unforgettable cinema experience,” says Rebecca Harvey, head, marketing, Entertainment One Family. “It’s also a great opportunity for licensees and retailers to capitalize on all the excitement that the cinema release is sure to generate.”

The “Peppa Pig” theatrical experience will be released in Australia on March 16, 2017, followed by the U.K. on April 7, 2017.
