Spring seems impossibly slow arriving here in the UK. It's not just the weather. At retail, many are still waiting for a change in temperature in the behaviour of consumers, put off by the lengthy cold snap and still showing their reluctance to spend heavily on the high street. The move towards accurate food labelling, fair trade products and organic materials are new trends being adopted by the big retailers to attract customers. In future issues, we'll be looking at how licensing can adapt to these trends.

Just this week, however, 4Kids dared utter the un-utterable. It thinks it has found the next Pokemon. Ten years after Pikachu and his friends changed the face of the licensing business, it will be interesting to see how the world responds.
