eBay Targets Mobile Shoppers

Following a survey finding that more than half of Canadians will do their holiday gift-buying online or on mobile devices, eBay launched a digital pop-up shop in downtown Toronto last Thursday.

The Holiday Market featured a curated selection of gifts from eBay retailers ranging from individuals to large retailers such as Toys ’R’ Us. The outdoor pop-up shop was open 24-hours-a-day for three days this last weekend and allowed shoppers to scan a QR code next to items they were interested that took them directly to the eBay mobile website or eBay app where they could purchase the product.

The idea of digital pop-up shops is becoming more common. Earlier this month, Mattel Canada and Walmart launched a similar digital shop for toys in Toronto’s underground shopping mall, PATH. To read more, click here.
