Disney Publishing Worldwide is planning four new books based on the original Star Wars film trilogy that will bridge the storyline in anticipation of December 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII.
The global publishing program will see adaptations of the classic film trilogy from bestselling children’s authors Tom Angleberger, Tony DiTerlizzi, Adam Gidwitz and R.J. Palacio.
The first, The Adventures of Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, is a picture book illustrated with concept art created by Ralph McQuarrie for the original Star Wars films. The book will combine the storyline of all three original films and will be available in October.
Additional titles to follow include new retellings of Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi by Tom Angleberger.
“We continue to explore ways to introduce new fans to Star Wars,” says Carol Roeder, director, Lucasfilm franchise publishing, Disney Publishing Worldwide. “By publishing dynamic interpretations of classic saga stories written by authors who speak directly to this generation, we will give young readers a great entry point into this universe.”
