DHX Makes Sales in Middle East, CEE

DHX Media has signed a number of deals with broadcasters in the Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Turkey for its top series including “Johnny Test” and “Caillou.”

“The Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Turkish regions are burgeoning markets for our programming, particularly in preschool animation which is proving to be consistently popular,” says Sophie Prigent, territory manager, DHX Media. “We’re maintaining strong relationships with the major broadcasters as well as signing an increasing number of deals with new video-on-demand platforms.”

New sales include:

  • Chellomedia Central Europe has renewed season one and picked up season three of the preschool show “Martha Speaks,” which is based on the children's book series by Susan Meddaugh, for its channel Minimax in Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic and Slovakia;
  • In Croatia, RTL Kockika has picked up an animated trio–“Arthur,” “Johnny Test” and “Caillou”;
  • Arab-broadcasting network MBC Group will air “The Zack Files” on its MBC3 channel;
  • Polish VOD channel Onet has picked up “Martha Speaks,” “Johnny Test” and “Sabrina’s Secret Life”;
  • Yumurcak TV in Turkey has acquired season five of “Caillou” and will begin airing “Ella the Elephant” this spring;
  • “Arthur” has been sold to public broadcaster Irib in Iran; and
  • “In the Night Garden” was picked up by Prime Media in Kazakhstan.
