Alan Paine has signed on for a range of country clothing under the Duchess of Northumberland brand.
The Duchess Collection, currently in development for fall/winter 2013, will include a broad range of garments and fabrics. This new collection follows the launch earlier this year of the Duchess of Northumberland capsule collection, which was created in collaboration with the Duchess and included women’s knitwear as well as a jacket, skirt and waistcoat.
"The Alan Paine brand is well known worldwide for quality knitwear and country wear. When the opportunity arose to collaborate with the Duchess of Northumberland we embraced it wholeheartedly,” says James Hinton, managing director, Alan Paine Knitwear. “We saw it as the coming together of two great British institutions both steeped in history and rich in heritage. We look forward to growing our strong partnership and developing the collection over the forthcoming seasons to become an internationally recognized range."
In a second deal, The History Press will publish two new gift books The Duchess of Northumberland’s Little Book of Preserves and Jams and The Duchess of Northumberland’s Little Book of Poisons and Potions, both for early summer 2013. Additional titles based on the extensive archive of material housed at Alnwick Castle will follow, covering all aspects of the life and history of the 700-year-old British estate, from farming and shooting to entertaining and gardening.
“We are delighted with these first deals that form part of a major brand strategy combining the licenses from the Duchess of Northumberland into a potent new presence in the licensing marketplace both nationally and internationally,” says Adrian Sington, chief executive officer, DCD Publishing.
