The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has appointed CPLG to help it build a consumer product program for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
FIBA’s flagship world competition, the FIBA Basketball World Cup, is held every four years and will take place next in Spain from in August and September of 2014, followed by the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey.
CPLG’s Barcelona office will lead the initiative, building an international licensing program that targets fans of all ages. CPLG is now looking to appoint sub-agent in Turkey to represent the FIBA World Championship for Women.
“We are delighted to be collaborating with FIBA on this unique sporting event,” says Peter Byrne, chief executive officer, CPLG. “We plan on working closely with them to launch a targeted international licensing program that capitalizes on the huge popularity of basketball not only in Spain, but across Europe and indeed the world.”
FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, is an independent association formed by 213 National Basketball Federations throughout the world.
