New York-based accessories licensee Concept One has appointed Effy Zinkin, currently serving as president of Marc Ecko Enterprises, as its new president.
“I’ve had a close working relationship with Effy for the past six years as a licensee for the Ecko-related brands, and I’ve come to recognize his talent and ambition and have developed a great respect for him,” says Sam Hafif, chief executive officer, Concept One. “There comes a point in time where the founder of a company should recognize that their personal skills and talents can be supplemented by bringing in someone from the outside with different skill sets and experience. Effy is someone that I know well and trust, and I am confident that he will help us continue our aggressive growth track and bring the company to new heights.”
Zinkin spent the past 14 years at Marc Ecko, first joining as its general counsel. During his tenure, he successfully completed more than 20 mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures that included opening 100 full-price and outlet retail stores, the launch of Complex magazine, the acquisition of manufacturing facilities, the launch of a video game division and building multiple global branded product lines.
“One of the tremendous opportunities these past 14 years has afforded to me has been the ability to not only operate Marc Ecko Enterprises’ core sportswear business, but to also work closely with dozens of best-in-class licensees. This has enabled me to adopt and fine-tune best practices from multiple industries,” says Zinkin. “Concept One is the golden standard amongst the many companies I have been fortunate to work with. Their reputation in the market place, the company culture they have created, their creativity and entrepreneurial approach to business made joining Concept One an exciting and very easy choice for this important step to my career.”
Concept One Accessories is a privately held company founded by brothers Sam and Bernie Hafif. The company holds more than 50 licenses for brands including Levis, Hickey Freeman, Izod, U.S. Polo Association all of the major sports leagues and entertainment studios including Disney and Warner Bros.
