Betty Boop Snags U.K. Apparel Partner

King Features has tapped apparel licensee Fashion Lab for a new Betty Boop line in the U.K.

King Features is the exclusive worldwide licensing agent for Fleischer Studios’ iconic cartoon character. The three-year deal was brokered by U.K. sub-agent Allsorts Licensing.

Fashion Lab is planning a range of girls, teens and ladies clothing that include leisurewear, underwear, outerwear, adult lingerie and matching accessories.

“We are very much looking forward to working with everyone on the Betty Boop brand,” says Andrew Webster, vice president, Fashion Lab. “We love properties with great heritage and believe that we shall have a strong reaction from all our retail partners over the near future as we put our ideas into action.”

Betty Boop is no stranger to the world of fashion. Last year, U.S. retailer Joyrich featured a line inspired by the cartoon vixen. To read about the Joyrich collaboration, click here.

“Betty Boop is an incredibly versatile character,” says Cathleen Titus, vice president of international kicensing, King Features. “Her strong graphic appeal and sassy persona have endeared her to millions around the globe and propelled her to an iconic state in the fashion world. We are looking forward to seeing where the creative efforts of Fashion Lab take her next.”
