Former Disney Store and Claire’s executive James D. Fielding has joined AwesomenessTV as global head of consumer products and retail.
Fielding will oversee all consumer products and retail efforts for the multi-platform media company, which is owned by DreamWorks Animation.
Fielding most recently served as chief executive officer of Claire’s Stores, a post that was preceded by four years as president of Disney Stores Worldwide, where he oversaw a $1.2 billion global business operating 360 stores in 12 countries, as well as the DisneyStore.com business in five countries.
“Jim is a true visionary in the retail industry and, as former CEO of Claire’s, he brings a unique perspective on our target teen audience,” says Brian Robbins, founder and chief executive officer, AwesomenessTV. “He is a great addition to our management team.”
At Disney Stores, Fielding led a complete re-architecture of the company’s brand and merchandising strategy, including worldwide store expansion, the launch of a new concept in 2010 and the development of their e-commerce business.
An 11-year veteran of Disney, Fielding also served as executive vice president of global retail sales and marketing for Disney Consumer Products, where he was responsible for account management, retail operations, franchise development and brand imaging for all consumer products categories.
Prior to his time at the Walt Disney Company, Fielding served as general merchandise manager for the coed division of Lands’ End and held several key roles in the merchandising world at companies including The Gap, The J. Peterman Company and Dayton Hudson Department Store.
“AwesomenessTV has built an amazing brand in a very short time, engaging teens around the world,” says Fielding. "This is an incredible opportunity. I look forward to building a long-term business strategy around consumer products and retail experiences that speaks to our fans in new and innovative ways."
