Angry Birds Target Russia

Rovio Entertainment has appointed Megalicense to represent licensing and retail initiatives for its Angry Birds brand in Russia.

“We are excited to welcome Megalicense as our agent. This market is a part of our long-term development efforts, and we are committed to establishing a strategic presence for our Russian fans,” says Naz Cuevas, senior vice president, global consumer products licensing, Rovio.

The news comes at an exciting time for the brand, which will launch its newest game–the kart-racing app “Angry Birds Go!”–Dec. 11. The new app comes on the heels of “Angry Birds Star Wars II,” which launched in September alongside a range of interactive Telepod toys from Hasbro. Additionally, Rovio is planning to air a new Angry Birds web series and third-party content on its online ToonsTV channel, which launched earlier this year.

“We couldn’t be more excited to execute fun and delightful programs for the fans of Angry Birds, and truly look forward to our new collaboration with Rovio,” says Zakhar Nazarenko, managing director, Megalicense.
